“Heat” is the first group exhibition introduced at QS Art Space – the new art space of Quang San Art Museum – featuring four contemporary Vietnamese artists: Lương Lưu Biên (1975), Huỳnh Thảo (1980), Võ Thành Thân (1987), and Đặng Quang Tiến (1992). This marks the official debut of QS Art Space to the public, kicking off a long-term journey that the museum hopes to accompany talented young artists on their creative paths. With this exhibition, QS Art Space is not merely a display venue but an inspiring stop – where new artistic practices are introduced, experimented with, and shared with the community.

A work expressing intense heat through bright red color

Why “Heat”?
Choosing a simple, purely Vietnamese monosyllabic word rich in imagery and emotion, “Heat” carries multiple layers of meaning: from the physical warmth of summer, to the inner restlessness within, and then to the psychological state – a fiery spirit, passion, and vitality. In the context of modern society with its fast pace, distractions, and sometimes coldness, “heat” serves as a reminder: to keep the original fire – of passion, ambition, and true emotion. For the artist, “heat” is also a vital energy, igniting each artwork and every creative choice, whether silent or explosive.

The four participating artists each represent a distinct shade of “heat.” Although sharing a fierce love for their craft, they choose entirely different artistic paths: some are bold with forms and vivid colors, others explore psychological depth through surreal compositions; some embrace abstract ideas, while others quietly express feelings through traditional materials.

Thus, “Heat” is not merely a theme but an emotional current where viewers can sense the vibrancy in the palette, the urge behind each brushstroke, and the inner substance of artists continuously seeking personal expression. The exhibition affirms the spirit of dedication and the wholehearted attitude towards art – a kind of “heat” more necessary and enduring than ever in today’s contemporary world.

Quang San Art Museum not only showcases independent artistic personalities but also aims to open a dialogue and connection between artists and the public, between the uniqueness of each work and the shared journey of a community walking together on the artistic path. This exhibition is like a first flame, warm yet blazing, signaling a long journey ahead where QS Art Space will continue to be an open, experimental space nurturing new creative ideas.
