UNDERCURRENTS – TRẦN ĐÌNH BÌNH
Quang San Art Museum is pleased to present “UNDERCURRENTS”, the first solo exhibition by artist Trần Đình Bình, marking a significant turning point in his artistic journey as he transitions from realism to a semi-abstract visual language while continuing to explore the traditional medium of Vietnamese lacquer painting.
Drawing inspiration from the mountainous landscapes of Northwest Vietnam and the evolving contemporary environment, the works in “UNDERCURRENTS” reinterpret nature through rhythms of color, lines, and forms. Organic curves reminiscent of rolling hills intertwine with geometric structures shaped by urbanization, creating a visual dialogue between nature and human intervention, tradition and modernity.
Rooted in the artist’s personal connection to the Earth element in Eastern philosophy, “Thổ” (Earth) extends beyond its symbolic association with his birth year to represent origins, life, and the continuous passage of time. For Trần Đình Bình, “UNDERCURRENTS” is not only the beginning of a new artistic direction but also a return to the earth, to his inner world, and to the sources of inspiration that have shaped his practice.
Quang San Art Museum warmly invites you to explore the exhibition and discover a new perspective on Vietnamese lacquer painting through the works of Trần Đình Bình.
