Beneath The Forest Canopy – Nguyễn Đình Văn

Quang San Art Museum is honored to present to the art-loving public the lacquer exhibition “Under the Forest Canopy” – a solo exhibition by artist Nguyễn Đình Văn. This exhibition is not only an artistic journey but also a way for the artist to tell a story about the timelessness and enduring beauty of Vietnamese lacquer art. These traditional values are skillfully intertwined with contemporary expression, offering a fresh perspective: one that honors heritage while paving the way for creativity.

With a deep passion for traditional lacquer techniques, artist Nguyễn Đình Văn has devoted years to research and to developing his own artistic path. He masterfully blends classical methods with contemporary artistic thinking, creating works that are both familiar and distinctive. In his hands, lacquer becomes a storytelling medium—each piece a bridge between past and present, evoking spiritual depth for those who contemplate it.
Inspired by the pristine beauty of nature, “Under the Forest Canopy” offers a journey through landscapes captured in emotionally rich fragments of space. Forests, gardens, and mountains emerge through transitional moments—gentle dawn light, soft twilight, or serene nightfall—forming a diverse symphony of nature’s states. Light weaves through the leaves, harmonizing with colors and unique compositions, allowing viewers not only to perceive natural beauty but also to be guided back to essential values within the soul. Here, nature appears as a living entity—evoking memories, healing, and connection.
The exhibition “Under the Forest Canopy,” co-organized by Quang San Art Museum and Họa Kể, will take place from December 4, 2024, to January 19, 2025, at the QS Art Space. Alongside the displayed works, the exhibition will feature engaging side activities, offering the public a deeper understanding of lacquer art and Nguyễn Đình Văn’s creative journey. We cordially invite you to visit and experience it.
