Quang San Art Museum, in collaboration with Lân Tinh Foundation and conservation specialist Vũ Đỗ, is pleased to present the introductory workshop “Conservation Imaging – Technology in Art Preservation.”
The workshop is designed to provide both foundational knowledge and practical applications of multispectral imaging technologies in the conservation of cultural heritage, with a focus on Vietnamese fine art.
Program
Part 1: Introduction to Conservation Techniques & Case Studies
Fundamental Concepts: An overview of the spectrum, energy, wavelengths, and the applications of various types of radiation (gamma rays, X-rays, infrared, ultraviolet) in both daily life and the arts.
Specialized Techniques: In-depth presentation of advanced methods such as Transmitted Light and Visible Fluorescence, applied to analyze damages, materials, and hidden underdrawings.
Case Studies: Examination of conservation projects led by Vũ Đỗ, spanning from two-dimensional works (oil paintings, lacquer paintings) to three-dimensional objects (bronze sculptures).
Part 2: Conservation Proposals – Archiving / Practice

Focused Discussion: Exploration of conservation and archiving strategies adapted to the limited resources of museums, archives, and private galleries.
Collection Analysis: Practical engagement with selected works from the Quang San Art Museum collection—including oil paintings, lacquer paintings, and bronze sculptures—where participants will be guided in assessing damages, identifying materials, and developing professional restoration plans.
