Faced with a world that is moving too quickly and expanding too widely, artists do not necessarily need to keep pace with it. It is precisely this distance from the present that creates a necessary space from which to observe how the world is shaping the lives and perceptions of each individual.
Crossing Blue explores the quiet shifts between inner life and the external world, where physical space gradually becomes psychological space. Through digital imagery, light, surfaces, painting, and installation, the artists investigate ambiguous states of memory, distance, the body, and sensation — where images are no longer certain evidence of reality, but are instead shaped through experience and the position of the viewer.
Most of the works in the exhibition are new practices, as the artists move beyond their familiar mediums to engage more deeply with objects, space, and personal experience. Crossing Blue preserves this very “delay”: the time needed to recognize the present, and for each artist to remain honest with their own world.
